What impact means to GSI

At GSI, we believe the private sector has a critical role to play in addressing the world’s most pressing challenges, from structural poverty and inequality to the effects of climate change.

We invest in profitable, sustainable companies that create jobs and deliver essential products and services, improving the livelihoods of people in vulnerable situations and building more inclusive and resilient local economies.

A shared Theory of Change

Our funds follow a common impact logic, adapted to different realities.

Structural inequality
Problem

Structural inequality, economic exclusion, climate vulnerability

Invest in scalable businesses
Solution

Invest in scalable, impactful, and financially sound businesses

Improved livelihoods
Outcome

Improved livelihoods, inclusive economies, and greater resilience at the individual, business, and community levels

Across all strategies, we aim for systemic impact in 3 dimensions

While the mission is shared, the degree of involvement and additionally, as well as the specific outputs and outcomes we target, differ by strategy and context. This differentiated approach allows us to respond to local needs with the right instruments, while always driving toward long-term, systemic impact across the three core dimensions.

Social

Expanding access to employment, productive assets, and essential goods and services for people in vulnerable situations

Environmental

Strengthening climate resilience, circularity, and sustainable resource use

Economic

Supporting the growth of inclusive businesses that foster market development and long-term economic participation

Two strategies, one mission

In Spain - Equity
We provide growth capital to inclusive, scalable businesses.

Our role is to support strategic expansion, professionalization, and long-term value creation, with a hands-on approach as shareholders, contributing to governance, direction, and impact integration.

Through private debt and selective equity investments, our investments support the growth of established SMEs, particularly across agricultural value chains, where access to finance remains limited.

Our impact assessment methodology is tailored to each fund’s investment strategy and applied throughout the investment cycle. Scores range from 1 to 10 and are weighted according to each company’s share of the portfolio. The charts show the evolution of impact performance from the initial assessment (baseline) to Q4 2025.

Stories of Impact

Each business in our portfolio represents a model where growth and impact go hand in hand: improving livelihoods, building climate and economic resilience, and enabling people and communities to reach their full potential.

Our Vision of Sustainability

At GSI, we are driven by the belief that economic activity and investment decisions have a profound impact on people, communities, and the planet.

From day one, we commit to strengthening environmental, social, and governance practices in the companies we support, not only to reduce harm, but to actively contribute to more inclusive, resilient, and future-ready systems.
